Olney Archaeological Society
The Society celebrated its 21st birthday on Tuesday 5th September with a well attended meeting at the Olney Centre.
Mrs Elizabeth Knight spoke about the Society’s origin which arose from a series of WEA classes in Archaeology held in Olney during the early 1980s. When these ceased the members continued to hold meetings with visiting speakers and arranging field trips to Archaelogical sites. These attracted such wide interest that eventually a society was formed in 1985.
An exhibition of photographs, programmes and memorobilia depicting the history of the Society attracted much interest. And a birthday cake completed an enjoyable meeting. d
