OLNEY TOWN QUEEN AND HER COURT
Despite the recent hold on the annual ‘Floral Fiesta’, the Town still has a Royal Court thanks to the dedication of Elaine Barron. A selection meeting was recently held at the Church Hall – David Pibworth interviewed the would-be Queens and Princesses who were all a great credit to themselves. The Town should be proud to have so many interesting, talented and enthusiastic young people wanting to represent it. Anna Swindells and Sarah Gould both princesses in 2006 are our Town Queen and Deputy Queen respectively. Congratulations go to them and to Emily Megeary and Stephanie Noble as Princesses. Well done for taking part to Sophie Newbold, Nicky Byers, Katy Byers, Heidi Bartholemew, Alice Brown, Alice Marven-Dawes, Sarah Gilbert, Samantha Penn, Ella Sheaf, Alice Bayliss and Bethany Heron.
WEST STREET CLOSURE
Part of West Street in Olney from the junction with Spring Lane to Orchard Rise will need to be closed to facilitate a new sewer connection and traffic calming feature. It is proposed that these works will take place from Monday 4th June until Thursday 14th June.
LAVENDON ANNUAL OPEN MEETING
The meeting began with the last year’s overview from local Police Officer Julian Kendle. Overall the crime statistics were slightly down on last year; however, one cause for concern was auto crime which had unfortunately increased. Compliments went to Julian from one resident who warmly appreciated how the Police had handled an incident involving him.
A large attendance of village residents heard later on development proposals for the former building site, or Saltbox on the south eastern edge of the village. A planning application has not yet been submitted to MK council, although Planning Officer Peter Joel was in attendance to answer any questions that came from the floor and to pick up on people’s views. If you would like to get in touch with me on this matter please feel free to do so.
RAVENSTONE AND WESTON UNDERWOOD
Both villages have now held their Annual Meetings, the joint Village Fete will be hosted this year by Ravenstone at Ravenstone House on 17th June, 2pm.
Very informative is the Ravenstone website, boasting between 12 and 31 visitors each week – popular pages according to Audrey Edwards are the photos page and the activities of the Parish Council! Well done to Ravenstone resident Bill Meades on being co-opted onto the Parish Council. See www.ravenstone.org.uk
CLIFTON REYNES
Congratulations go to Reg and Lyn Pearson and their team of staff at the Robin Hood in Clifton Reynes. This favoured watering hole and eaterie has won the CAMRA – Campaign for Real Ale’s local Pub of the Year Award with the largest winning score ever. The Robin Hood now goes forward to represent Milton Keynes and North Bucks in the next round of the Competition – who knows they could go all the way to the national finals!
The Pub will also be the venue for the Clifton Reynes Garden Fete and Robin Hood Tournament on the 7th June at 1.30pm. Events will feature a dog show and jousting and there will be ample free parking, so... “Let all maidens and men be merry!”
HIGH HEDGE REMOVED
Some of you may have noticed that it is lighter around the bungalows in Spinney Hill Road Olney. After residents Eena Sargent and Joyce Lightfoot contacted me it was found that a neighbouring conifer hedge was on a council owned property. The council has now removed the hedge which was over 30feet high, enabling residents to enjoy both views and more light into their houses. While it has taken some time it is however good to see that the council managed to act in the end. (See pictures.)
TREES TO BE PLANTED AT OLNEY CAMPUS
Many people have asked about the landscaping around the Olney Campus and a few concerns have been expressed about the fence line. I have passed any concerns that have been coming in to me onto the officer responsible for overseeing the continuing works for his consideration. The planting, including some 150 trees was due to commence once Jackson’s had left the site, however there have been problems with the landscaping work they had left and this must be rectified before the planting can begin.
WINDFARM UPDATE
Assimilated questions have been put to the developer of the Petsoe Manor site, we

await answers to the many searching questions that members of the community and community representatives have posed. It is anticipated that the application will not come to the development control committee before the summer, depending upon how long the further consultation takes this could be longer. The Nunn Wood wind farm at Lavendon will be later with a six month extension being given to enable further work to be done. It is therefore unlikely that this application will be judged before the end of
