Next time you hear me dj, you may be surprised to hear an infusion of Bollywood / Punjabi music mixed amongst The Killers or The Rapture!
Whilst I was in India for 4 months I experienced many Indian nightclubs. The music there was mainly Hindi Pop, Bollywood (film soundtracks), Urban and a mixture of our 80’s music. I never made it before to an India club as they were few and far between.
I went to Mumbai (Bombay) in February to train and off-shore my job. It was extremely tiring working long hours, but I am really glad I went. The country is an amazing contrast of poverty and wealth. You feel exhilarated at times and at times you want to cry. I was staying in a hotel living the life of luxury, then driving to work through a slum. The country really makes you think how lucky you are living in the UK.
Whilst there I did a little bit of sight seeing. There’s not an awful lot to see in Mumbai so you can’t miss the Gateway to India, the Taj Mahal Hotel (where Liz Hurley stayed), Victoria Terminus Station, Elephanta Island and Gandhi’s House.
I also visited Goa for some relaxation. It was like a tropical Portugal. It is a state and was ruled by Portugal, hence it is has a high Christian population.
Whilst in India I also learnt a lot about different religions such as Hindu, Muslim and Hare Krishna. I visited many temples and joined in with the Hindi Holi Festival, a very different experience for someone from a small town like Newport Pagnell.
India really is an incredible place and if you get a chance to go don’t miss it!
