Robinsons refurbishment complete
Robinsons has reopened again after an extensive refurbishment over the summer. Owners, husband and wife team, Angela and Darren Robinson, realised that after nine years of trading a total revamp was due.
No expense has been spared to create an upmarket haven of fine dining in the local market town of Newport Pagnell. Set in a historic High Street building, parts of which date back over 400 years. This presented unique restoration issues for Darren and Angela, yet they have managed to combine the history and character of the building with an understated, modern look.
The solid oak floor, exposed beams and ancient stonework have been displayed to their best advantage. An ethos of quality is obvious throughout. The most visible change they have made is a new layout for the restaurant. There is now a modern reception bar area with a lovely ambience. The upmarket styling that includes leather cream seating, frosted glass and the natural stone, all meld to create a stylish yet warm atmosphere that feels special.
The menu has also been revamped, although the food style remains a mix of English and Mediterranean flavours. The focus is on fresh, high quality produce prepared with flair. Savoy trained head chef, Darren, has built up an impressive list of specialist suppliers with an emphasis on organic, quality produce.
For example they only use the finest Welsh and Cornish lamb, and pure Aberdeen Angus. In fact, they spent two days inspecting the beef farm in Scotland as part of the selection process. Their fishmonger is one of the best in the country. He calls Darren on his mobile from the quay, to let him know what the boats have brought in. Darren selects what he wants, and the next day it’s on the menu, fresh.
“We look forward to welcoming back our customers, feedback has been very positive from those that have dined with us.” said head chef and owner Darren Robinson. “We have tried to create a relaxed, yet quality atmosphere to enjoy great food and wine, and it seems that we have achieved this – very gratifying after all our hard work.” K
