Fair Trade Event at Lavendon Baptist Church
We don’t normally encourage people to spend much on Christmas shopping, but if it is for a good cause we are prepared to make an exception. On Saturday 24 October a successful Fair Trade coffee morning was held at Lavendon Baptist Church, with items for sale from a wide range of Fair Trade goods and cards, and refreshments provided by members of the congregation. The event was well attended, with a good crowd of people buying cards for Christmas and small presents. It is good to know that the profit from these items goes to those who produced them, who receive a living wage for their work. The church hopes to hold another such sale in the spring.
Grand Day Out
With apologies to Wallace and Gromit – we had a GRAND DAY OUT on 20th September at Milton Keynes Museum and would highly recommend it to anyone living in this area. Two years ago we visited for the first time and were amazed at the variety of interesting items to see. We then heard about the Transport Day (held every September) and it was great fun. Plenty to see, friendly people and wonderful refreshments. If you check their website (www.mkmuseum.org.uk) you will see that events are planned throughout the year. They are having special Christmas weekends throughout December and I would encourage anyone who hasn't been to the Museum to visit. J Turner
