Olney and Clifton Fishing Association
We are now half way through a rather difficult season. Catches have been very average, probably because of low river levels, with no new records. Best fish to date are: Bream 7lb 6oz, junior 5lb 5oz; Carp 17lb 10oz; Chub 5lb 3oz, junior 5lb 4oz!; Perch 2lb 71/2oz, junior 1lb 14oz and Tench 5lb 9oz.
With Club membership lower than previous years, possibly caused by the recession or because people now like to fish carp lakes, our cup matches attracted fewer entrants. Jamie Knight won the Brimley Cup with 10lb 9oz. Gary Britton won the Spooner Cup with 5lb 5oz.
Matches for Club juniors are still quite popular usually attracting 20 competitors. Phillip Lee won the Junior Cup with 1lb 10 1/2oz and Jack Moroney won Dale Rogers’ Memorial with 2lb 10oz.
Our open matches for charity also had fewer entrants. Even so £90 was donated to R.B.L., the cup was won with 7lb 15oz by Nil Shearn. The match for Willen Hospice is in February.
The season ends 14th March so members still have time to catch those elusive specimen fish and our own ‘personal bests’.

Happy Christmas to all our present and future members!
Their Second Childhood: a book by Geoff Bacchus
Geoff’s writing competes with many of his other activities and as those of us who know him he gets himself into all manner of troubles and difficulties.
Fortunately when he is writing he is off the streets. And when you start reading this, his first book, it will keep you off the streets, at least until you have finished it. A full review is on the Phonebox website.
Priced at £5.99 as a special price for Phonebox readers during December, it would make an excellent Christmas present. Available to order on line at www.phoneboxmag.co.uk
