3rd AND 4th NEWPORT PAGNELL BROWNIES TAKE OVER BUTLINS IN SKEGNESS
Girls from 3rd and 4th Newport Pagnell Brownies joined over 1,600 girls from across Anglia at Starburst 2010 – an adventure weekend at Butlins in Skegness, exclusively for Brownies. The action-packed weekend chosen by the Brownies, on 15-17 January, included dancing, circus skills, archery, swimming, karaoke and bowling. The event is one of hundreds taking place across the UK in 2010 to mark the first 100 years of guiding.
The girls from 3rd and 4th Newport Pagnell Brownies had the opportunity to try new activities like cheerleading and party dancing while making new friends during the exclusive girl-only weekend at Butlins. The girls had a fun packed weekend form start to finish, with a surprise performance at the Celebration Disco on Saturday Night by Same Difference, finalists in the 2007 X Factor.

Beth, 9, said of the weekend: “It was brilliant at Butlins, I tried so many things and I got to see famous people.”
3rd Newport Pagnell Brownie Leader Sue Robinson said: “It was a wonderful opportunity for the girls to try so many different activities, and to meet and make guiding friends from all round the region. The girls were never bored, there wasn’t time. We will all remember this for a long time.”
The Centenary is an opportunity to celebrate the impact that the organisation has made on the lives of girls and young women and how modern guiding continues to support over half a million members around the UK to make new friends, develop skills and achieve their full potential in a unique girl- only space.
