“IN THE PINK”
“IN THE PINK” is a local support group for ladies who have or have had Breast Cancer.
It is with great sadness that Pauline (one of the founders of “IN THE PINK” ) suddenly passed away, she will be deeply missed. Her hard work and passion to launch this local group has proved to be a great success, and as a tribute to her we have decided to go ahead and continue with her aspiration. Hopefully we can make Pauline proud as we carry out her aim. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to all her family and close friends at this very difficult time.
Our second local support group was held at Ruby’s Lingerie in Olney on Thursday 14th July, for which we would like to thank Deborah and Eileen for their support and hospitality. The meeting was a great success where we saw some new and regular faces. Again we all had the chance to meet new friends, talk through any concerns with a former breast care nurse, receive emotional support from a councillor and provide advice and information.
We were all able to discuss our anxieties, experiences and support each other which brought us together in a very warm and friendly environment. We intend to continue to hold regular monthly meetings in Olney – future dates will be announced. The date and venue for our next meeting in August will be advertised shortly.
Ladies, please join us for a glass of wine, tea, coffee and nibbles and meet some friends who have had or have similar experiences. For more information please call 07729 109457 or 07921 380430.
The Willen World Cup 16th July 2011
OLNEy TOWN COLTs Foxes Blues U9’s football team followed up their sheild Cup success at stadium MK by winning the Willen World Cup.
18 U9 teams from all over the region registered and were split into two groups. Each team played eight matches of eight minutes.
The Foxes won four and drew four in the Group stages only conceding three goals, the boys stuck to the tactics of closing the ball down and not letting the opposition settle right from the start. Every player remained focused on these tactics for five hours despite the torrential rain, earning a place in the quarter finals by winning the Group.
The Foxes won the quarter final against a
well organised Water Eaton side 1-0. The semi final was a tough match v Roman Rangers against the wind, the lads stopped Rangers playing football with some hard tackling all over the pitch. The hard work was rewarded by winning a penalty shoot out to earn a place in the final.
Hackleton Harriers were worthy finalists and it was another great game of football, this time the Foxes scored early and kept another clean sheet to win the cup 1-0, a fantastic effort over a long day.
The whole squad played their part and there were some outstanding performances, but one player deserves great credit with his battling all over the pitch coupled with some very impressive
forward play and important goals. Our Foxes player of the tournament went to Joe Brock, very well done to Joe and the whole team.
Finally, a huge amount of praise must go to all the parents who spent 10 hours drying wet tops/cheering the lads on and keeping spirits high, a big thank you to all of you.
