Newport Pagnell Photographer
A BIOGRAPHY by Peter Kitchener
PART FIVE: VILLAGES AROUND OLNEY & NEWPORT PAGNELL
This is part 5 of a series of short articles written for the Phonebox of the biography Peter Kitchener is writing (together with Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre) of his grandfather, Maurice Kitchener.
Photographing villages around Olney & Newport Pagnell
Between about 1925 and 1936 Maurice cycled around the villages in north Bucks and adjacent counties photographing village scenes. He produced picture postcards which he subsequently sold to the village stores or post offices.
Over 1750 of his original glass negatives survive and are stored in Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre. At the time of writing, approximately 1300 have been printed and digitised.

The following photographs are a tiny selection of those available to view or purchase at Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre.
Peter is hoping that some readers may be able to provide further information which may then be incorporated into the definitive joint publication with MKCDC.
If any reader has any further information about any aspect of his grandfather’s life he would be very grateful if they would kindly forward it to him via Phonebox.
