Dear Editor
residents (one more cross to bear).
is good for the goose is good for the gander”. I dispute this as, case in point, Sunday Market traders are leaving as trade is down on Sundays as customer cannot park. I dispute any claim that OIney town financially benefits one iota from the existence of ORFC. Claims that “we are putting OIney on the map” are questionable. What map are they referring to? Some place that they can pollute with car fumes? Park on any pavement you like? Make as much noise and use four letter words as you want? Urinate on any hedge/fence you like?
Autumn. A time of peace, soft air and dewy mornings. One looks forward to less heat, less hassle and, as we live near a newly refurbished Childrenʼs playground and as schools have re-started, less noise during the day.
I hear you say “what about Parking Wardens?” Indeed. What about them. Iʼve seen one in the last 5 years. Whenever they are called it seems they are “very busy in Milton Keynes”.
Not so in the East of OIney where, as today has reminded me, every Saturday and Sunday until next summer will be a major trial, a place “not to be” at weekends. Those that live in East OIney, especially those residents of Carey Way who have not only to suffer the parking problems that East Street, Newton Street, Austen Avenue, The Task and Gilpin Way have, where every bit of kerb is full of cars and pavements are blocked or part blocked. It also seems funny that many of said vehicles are 4x4s (that have probably driven under a mile to get there). Carey Way residents have the added advantage of noise, blocked drive ways, accused of “dogs fouling” the playing fields, edification into numerous (all unwanted) four letter words and the display of (also numerous) male (they cannot be dignified by being addressed as “gentlemen”) players/officials urinating along hedgerows and fences. Hedgerows that boarding Public Footpaths, and fences that belong to private houses (Carey Way).
The Phonebox regularly has letters in it complaining of Dog Fouling on the pitches. Since the fence was put up there have been several occurrences of dogs being sighted on the field. All of them, I repeat ALL OF THEM have been the dogs that accompany the people who work on the pitches. There are signs saying “dog free area” yet that rule, as it seems so many other rules, do not seem to apply to those that run the fields.
As a resident of OIney, Iʼd really not have us on any of those maps.
The year before last, for the first time in living memory, there were rats in Carey Way. They were eradicated at the expense of the local
Why should issues caused by them be solved from my pocket? They caused the issues, ignoring and overriding all objections. They developed the issues by saying “What
The resistance to this unfair Tory Fib Dem government is growing!
It seems that the parking issue has finally been noted by those that organise the events. As this was one of the issues noted on the objections to the change of use of Doffs Field, (and was rejected as there was “more than adequate” parking available next to the football field - said parking was, of course, for ALL users (Bowling, Soccer, Tennis and general park uses, not just ORFC) it now seems that they believe there is a problem but itʼs not their problem, itʼs the responsibility of OIney Council to provide sufficient parking.

In response to Max Lickfoldʼs letter in your last edition.
Max, Iʼm pleased you have softened your approach, however I wouldnʼt call it very ʻbalancedʼ to support tax cuts for the rich and benefit cuts for the poor!
