Ever Been Hacked..?
Well I have and it was a bad experience.
For several weeks mail addressed to me
did not come through. My own attempts
to solve the problem only served to show
that I am certainly not a computer nerd.
The computer was no part of my life
before 1993 by which time many people
had long found it a very useful tool. Even
when I did come to terms with the thing it
was quite simply a wonderful word processor. My handwriting is illegible and my typing was painfully slow so the PC was made very welcome. Then came digital photography and I no longer needed a darkroom, life was becoming far easier. Presently the wonders of the internet arrived; it is now hard to imagine life without the internet, hard to remember that twenty years ago no one had even heard of the idea yet today the accompanying facility of e-mail is seen by millions of us as a daily necessity and I for one have come to depend on software I scarcely understand. Well over 90% of my correspondence for several years now has been a matter of e-mail so it was quite alarming to find nothing coming through for several weeks, I must have lost three or four hundred messages. My own efforts to resolve this only served to show how far Iʼve been left behind.
Way back in 1972, however, Robin Beck chose to involve himself with the fast evolving new world order, he has been meeting and resolving computer problems for a long time and his knowledge and solutions are available to you and me. I hadnʼt met him until in desperation I followed through the Phonebox advert “Local Computer Paramedic” and phoned across. His e-mail address is support@pc-first aid.com Eureka!
I ushered him into the corner with my PC and soon learned that I had been hacked. I cannot believe anything about me might be worth hacking, maybe some professional hackerʼs apprentice was just practising. It took Robin less than an hour to determine my problem and set me up with the new address where I am at last open again to our readers along with friends and family. ʻTis good to know there is help available when we need it; I found Robin more than helpful, working on from 1972 he has become most informative and an excellent tutor.
