CHARITIES BENEFIT FROM CHRISTMAS COLLECTIONS
CLUBOF NEWPORT PAGNELL ROTARY
THE
CHRISTMAS TREES FOR
LOCAL SCHOOLS!
It was Christmas festivities arriving early at local schools on December 1st when three intrepid members of the Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell – one heavily disguised as Santa Claus – set off with a trailer to pick up 14 Christmas trees from Alban Nurseries Sherington. As in previous years Albans had kindly helped sponsor the trees along with the Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell for distribution to local primary schools.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE
All the schools had been previously prepared for the delivery and both children and teachers were eagerly awaiting the arrival of Santa and the trees. Santa Clauseʼs elf was well versed in reminding the children that they had to be good children otherwise he would not be visiting them on Christmas Eve and that the real Father Christmas was extremely busy elsewhere..........
The Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell meets every Wednesday at the Swan Revived Hotel, Newport Pagnell.
We would be delighted to see men and women who have time to spare, would like to make new friends, and are interested in making a difference locally, nationally and internationally.
It was all hands on collecting buckets during the six weeks leading up to Christmas for the annual Rotary Club charity collections at Frosts Garden Centre. Rotarians, including some from the MK Grand Union Club, wives, friends and members of Inner Wheel gave their time and enthusiasm to stand and coerce and pursuade Garden Centre customers to part with whatever they could afford. It is always an amazing and very humbling experience at the amounts that our bucket collections realise each year, particularly taking into account the current financial climate.
The club will celebrate its fiftieth anniversary in 2013, and if you would like to join our club and share in the celebrations, then get in touch and come along and meet us. You would be made very welcome.
President Richard Coleman and all the members of the Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell would like to thank everyone who contributed towards an amount in excess of £3500, and also to Frosts Garden Centre, in particular Gabbie Robinson, for their generous and continuing support. The proceeds will be donated to Willen Hospice and other Rotary approved charities.
We currently have 22 members – and have one or two new potential members in the pipeline.

CHARITY
The Rotary Club of Newport Pagnellʼs sell-out autumn concert at the Chrysalis Theatre recently (Friday 23 November) generated rapturous applause from the audience for both Northampton Male Voice Choir and guest soloist on piano, Lincoln Noel. Concert goers were treated to an evening of excellent music combined with much hilarity from both Lincoln and Stephen Ball, the Choirʼs Musical Director. The event raised over £1600 for Willen Hospice, Rotary Internationalʼs ʻEnd Polio Nowʼ Campaign and the Camphill Community, of which the Chrysalis Theatre is part. The Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell would like to thank everyone who supported the event and contributed to its success. (Choir photos by Anna Hejnar anna_hejnar@yahoo.com)
