Out and About with Mark Lancaster
Happy New Year!
the Chief
Executive of
Milton Keynes
Council, on
behalf of
residents to
seek
reassurances.
In summary,
David Hill has
assured me that
the site has not
been identified
as a site for
housing or
employment
development in
either the Local
Plan adopted in
2005 or the
draft Core
Strategy. The
Core Strategy which was subject to a public inquiry in July 2012 and whilst the final report is yet to be received, the inspector rejected arguments by Berkeley Strategic that the site should be included. I believe that Berkeley may still apply for outline planning permission, due to it being outside of the Local Plan and the Core Strategy means it would have a big hurdle to overcome in policy terms. I hope that this helps to address some of your concerns but if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office in the usual ways. The letter in full can be found on my website.
Itʼs this time of the year that we all make those very hard to keep
resolutions, either to join a gym or to give something up, which are usually so hard we can never maintain them past the month of January. This year I am resolved to visit even more of my constituency, even more businesses, charities, schools and I am open to your suggestions as to who I should visit next.
Before Christmas I held my usual Christmas card competition, which was open to all year 5-6 children across the constituency. I had a bumper year of children applying and the judges, Anna Mauremootoo from MK News and Anthony Spira from MK Gallery, had a tough time choosing the one winner and six runners-up. The winner chosen was Athavan Thanabalasingam from Stanton School, whose winning design was of Santa riding his sleigh over the Houses of Parliament. MK Gallery agreed to exhibit all of the entries and we had a fantastic evening handing out the prizes to the surprised children and their families.

I also managed to pop by the Royal Mailʼs Newport Pagnell delivery office before Christmas to pass on best Christmas wishes and encouragement to the postmen and women at their busiest time of year. I met local Delivery Office Manager Greg Wilde and was introduced to all the postmen and women who are working hard doing their bit to sort and deliver all the cards and parcels in the Newport Pagnell area in the run-up to Christmas. There were certainly lots of parcels and Christmas cards all waiting to be delivered.
For the last part of 2012 and the entirety of 2013 I have been and continue to visit all of the schools in my constituency and reading to school children. I have had great fun so far reading books about dinosaurs and polar bears and I am sure that there will be lots more in the New Year. I might just see one or two of you myself.

Congratulations to all those involved in organising the ʻDickens of a Christmasʼ in Olney this year, as an event it seems to go form strength to strength, my particular highlight was avoiding the custard pie thrown by the pantomime dame at me from ʻDick Whittingtonʼ, congratulations to David Pibworth and all of the case for a great show.
Finally may I take this opportunity to praise the reaction of Thames Valley Police following a spate of burglaries in Olney. We have been fortunate to have had high visibility patrols around the town and success in dealing with the problem, I am confident having been briefed by the Police that the issue has and will continue to be effectively addressed.
I have been contacted by many residents with their concerns about the proposals by Berkley Strategic to build an Enterprise Park East of the M1. I have written to David Hill,
