Newport Pagnell District Carol Service
On Thursday 6th December all of Newport Pagnell District Girl guiding got together (11 Units) at St Peter and St Pauls Church for
our Carol service.
Each Unit had prepared a five minute entertainment for the audience
these ranged from Rainbows singing Away in a Manager with Mary Joseph and Angel, to aerobic form of The Twelve Days of Christmas. Other entertainments included musical instruments and the Christmas Alphabet poem.
Our Local MP Mark Lancaster attended along with the Town Mayor Wendy Eagan and both enjoyed themselves especially the Christmas Hokey Cokey. It was standing room only in the church with over 350 people in attendance – What a fantastic turn out!
All Unit flags were in the church including the district banner – first for a long time.
We also presented a traditional Girl Guiding bucket to the front of the church full of Christmas food to be donated to our local food bank in Milton Keynes. We had a retiring collection at the back of the church also for the food bank which raised £190.
The evening was a great success, so much so that we have already being asked by people when the next one is and in fact I have now booked this for Friday 6th December 2013.
We appeared to have caused a few traffic jams in the town that night and the fish and chip shops appeared to be doing a good trade at the end of the evening with queues out the door. Thank you to all who came to support us and to everyone who took part helping to make it a huge success. Hereʼs to next year.
