Local Girl Fundraising for
Nepal
Sallie Grummitt 21 a London School of
Economics graduate is going on a
three-month-placement as part of the
Government-backed International Citizen
Programme. She is due to depart for
Lamjung Nepal in March. Teaming up with
local Nepalese volunteers to help work on
sustainable development programme to help addresses some of the key issues facing the local community.

“The project I’m working on is run by the development charity VSO and aims to raise awareness and improve health and hygiene. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside people from a different culture to fight against poverty and make a difference where it’s needed most. I’m really excited to get out there.”
ICS allows young people aged 18-25 to contribute to long-term development projects in countries like Burkina Faso Sierra Leone and Nepal. The scheme offers young people the chance to develop personally and learn about team work and leadership on projects that are of genuine value to communities around the world. On return to the UK ICS volunteers undertake an ‘Action at Home Project’ ensuring that their new skills also benefit their local communities.
To get to Nepal I have to reach my fundraising target of £800 to raise these much needed funds I am offering babysitting service in exchange for donation towards my target. So you can go out and have fun for an evening and raise money for charity at the same time.
