ANNUAL PUB GAMES NIGHT This fun event took place at the Hanslope Working Mens Club recently, and the Rotary Clubs of Newport Pagnell, Wolverton and Stony Stratford and Milton Keynes Grand Union were involved in competitions featuring skittles, pool, datrts, bagatelle, shove halfpenny and Trivial Pursuits. Teams of four were very evenly matched, and the end result was a win for the Rotary Club of Milton Keynes Grand Union.. Some of the teams, it would appear endeavour not to be the champions, as it falls to them to organise next years contest. The picture shows Grand Union Rotarians Susan Jackson, David Hatherall and Andrew Faraday not quite believing that they got it wrong by winning, because they also have to pay the cost of the engraving and keep the cup well polished.
THE END IS NIGH........
The month of June represents the end of yet another Rotary Year, and a very successful period for the Newport Pagnell Club. We have raised a considerable amount of money over the last twelve months, with many local, national and international charities benefiting from ..the members efforts.
As the new Rotary year looms on the horizon, plans are being made for new and regular projects to be implemented. We have fund raising and social events already being planned, including our fiftieth anniversary celebrations in October and the usual bucket street collections in Olney and Newport Pagnell. The Newport Pagnell Rotary Club will again be contributing money towards the Rotary International Polio Eradication Scheme. Only three or four countries in the world are now experiencing this terrible disease, the good news being that annual statistics continue to show a reduction in the number of cases, and approaching single figures in some areas.Rotary in conjunction with the World Health Organisation and the Bill Gates
