Tommy
Hi, my name is Tommy and I am two years old. Over Easter Bank Holiday weekend I was lucky enough to be taken to Woburn Safari Park by my Mummy, Daddy, Auntie Sarah and Uncle Matt. We had an amazing adventure.
First was the road safari where I sat on Daddy’s lap to get a better view of all the big animals. The Buffalo, Antelope, Wildebeest and even Ostriches were great to see so close and everyone took lots of pictures.
A Tiger showed us her teeth for a photo and the Wolves looked like they may have just eaten as they were very relaxed, content and sleepy. Uncle Matt is slightly scared of Wolves especially when I opened the window so he put the window lock on and drove us on safely. I also saw a bear which was asleep in the foliage so we almost missed him!
There was a traf c jam to the lions and I got a little bit impatient and bored but when we got there we saw a whole big family and one was eating ribs and another smiled whilst we took her photo! There was a new male lion too which was being kept separately who had a wild mane and had such big teeth.
Next we saw the zebra who were chasing each other around and playing. It looked like fun and I wanted to join in. The baby giraffes stood in the doorway because it had started raining and was a bit cold. I was glad to be in the car myself.
Lastly we drove through the monkey enclosure. None of them jumped onto our car even though I really wanted them to but it was fun watching them jump onto other peoples cars. One monkey sat in the road and caused a traf c jam! A ranger used his stick to shoo him out of the road.
Then it was time to get out of the car to see the other animals in the park. Wearing my hat my mummy knitted for me I was ready! I got to sit on Daddy’s shoulders to get a better view of the penguins and I got to stroke a lemur. I had been asking all day to see a Sea Cow like from Dora the Explorar and when I saw the sea lions I thought ‘that’d do’.
The squirrel monkeys were playing in the trees and I really wanted to touch one but I wasn’t allowed.
I got to go in the indoor play area too. There was a ball pit where the balls oat like magic in the air. I went down a slide by myself and went down the bigger one with Mummy, Daddy Matt and Sarah. Other children hardly got in my way either.
“All aboard the train,” I kept saying to people as we boarded and were ready to go. I told the lady we were ready and the train set off towards the new deer stop where you get to feed them. The deer were too shy but I still got off at the deer stop to stretch my legs, as Daddy often says.
Later on I stroked some goats and when mummy wasn’t looking one of them tried to eat her Lulu Guinness bag and Sarah’s coat which everyone found very funny. Towards the end of our busy day we saw the kangaroos and peacocks too in the Australian walkabout and even saw some elephants being walked by the keepers. Lastly we went to see Rainbow landing which has parrots and other colourful birds you can feed if you wanted but we got there late and the birds had eaten enough for the day!
At the end of the day I fell asleep as the adults drove one last time around the road safari. I had a brilliant day. 28 Phonebox Magazine
