of Willen Hospice and St Johns Hospice. What a fantastic evening. In fact I’m still humming along to several of the tunes. I think it must have been nice in bygone eras when entertainment was provided by our own, rather than the ridiculous rubbish forced upon us by television.
It’s never nice when you have to say goodbye to a friend, but we did just that recently when we bade a fond farewell to our local Rector who is retiring. Michael Godfrey has been in Newport for six years and at a tea party at Brooklands he was presented with, amongst his many other gifts, a Citizen’s Award Certificate from the Town Council. It will be several months before we know who his successor will be, but we wish him and his wife every happiness for the future. There’s a whole host of events to look forward to including the Christmas Lights switch on and various carol services on the lead up to Christmas. Oh, I’m a humbug and glad it only comes once a year, but here’s to next month! Best wishes.
the last 12 minutes to force extra time before sadly losing on penalties after there were no further goals.
If you haven’t been to a match at Willen Road yet, come and see the action for yourself. There’s no guarantee that it will be as dramatic as some recent matches, but that’s part of the beauty and fascination of football – you never know what to expect next, and Newport Pagnell Town matches do seem to have provided quite a lot of drama and excitement recently!
Memories and Reflection
Among many activities the describing of our favourite T-Shirts proved to be a very interesting source of memories and reflection brought into school in a carrier bag. Alongside the making of puppets and fruit salads the half term mark sees us well settled as a learning community with our new members well integrated
into Team Sherington. Once again many thanks to the PTFA who provided refreshments after our Harvest Festival celebration and for putting on another well attended ‘movie night’.

MK Dons
Goals from Kyle McFadzean and Benik Afobe completed a well fought comeback by MK Dons
possible promotion rivals Fleetwood Town as Karl Robinson’s men came back from a one goal deficit to emerge 2-1 winners at Stadium:MK.
The visitors started the better team with dangerous crosses by John Morris that just lacked anticipation from the strikers to get chances on goal. MK Dons woke up in the latter stages of the first half as long range shots by the young prospect Dele Alli and Darren Potter forced Maxwell to produce top class saves and keep the match at deadlock as the players went in for the halftime team talk. The match suddenly came to life in the second half as Fleetwood took the lead completely against the run of play. A simple ball over the top split the Dons’ back line wide open and David Ball was able to capitalise as he took the ball in his stride before smoothly chipping over the advancing David Martin into the empty net.
Fleetwood Town
McFadzean levelled things up less than 10 minutes later with a thunderous 20 yard drive which deflected past the sprawling Maxwell into the bottom corner.
Fleetwood had a chance to regain the lead but Jamie Procter saw his effort well parried by David Martin before Afobe completed the comeback from the penalty spot, sending Maxwell the wrong way after Carruthers took a tumble under the challenge of Gareth Evans. MK Dons move up to fourth in the table, just three points behind second place rivals Peterborough in a season that already looks like it will go down to the wire for Karl Robinson’s team in the search for promotion.
