The Olney Plan
Residents will have received a copy of the neighbourhood plan with the last edition of Phonebox, and I would like to thank all those that have completed and returned the questionnaire or came along to the drop-in sessions that we held at the Olney Centre. You now have until the 9th December to send in your comments, and if you do not have a copy of the questionnaire, they can be obtained from the Phonebox magazine office, library or the town council office. Alternatively, you can respond online at http://olneyplan.com/consultation
The consultation has certainly sparked a lot of debate about the future of Olney so the more that respond to the consultation the better.
Liam Costello, Town Clerk
Thanks from Joan
Dear Editor, a big thank you to everyone who helped at my “October Open House’’ and to those who stepped in at short notice to give me the extra help I needed this year.
Thanks also to all those who came and donated, helping us to make a record, grand total, of £450 in aid of “A Safe Haven for Donkeys in the Holy Land”.
Joan Norton
A Big Thank You!!
A great big thank you from your Olney Fireworks team here at The Olney Group (TOG).
The weather tried its hardest to spoil things on November 3rd but as always Olney people turned up in force (not to mention wellies!!). There was a big crowd once the 5pm downpour was behind us. The new fire show was so popular we will have to find a way to get him higher next time as hundreds of you were watching his spectacular act. Also new this year was face painting after its success at our other event the raft race. It will be back next time we are sure. The fireworks show was the usual high standard from the professionals we get to do that and the fair and stalls were buzzing.
Congratulations to the Friends of St Peter and St Pauls church who were running the bar for the first time; we don’t think fireworks have had mulled wine before and that all went quite quickly, so will be back next year we are sure. Thank you to all our volunteers, we cannot put the event on without you. Last and definitely not least, thanks again to Stephen Oakley the long term sponsor of the Olney fireworks and provider of all those glow sticks!! Thanks again Stephen. Everyone really appreciates your support. See you all next year. Your fireworks team at TOG (theolneygroup.org)
