Churches Together Newport Pagnell
Christmas is about remembering the birth of a boy, who went on to bring a remarkable message to us all through his life and
death. Although there were reasons to expect something special of this boy, it was not always clear what this was. Throughout his life, his mother Mary had problems fully understanding what her young adult child was about. What
any moment.
When they got to their destination (Bethlehem) it was of course crowded with all the other people who had had to travel there, and so they were stuck without accommodation (no booking.com then). Luckily for them an inn could offer them space to make do in one of the adjoining stables (no room upgrade for them), and so that is

Methodist Open Day A Great Success!
A warm welcome awaited all those who visited the Methodist Church in Newport Pagnell on 19th October. Staged as part of our upcoming Bicentenary programme, the Open Day portrayed how our local Methodist Church gets involved with both local and worldwide issues and seeks to meet present day needs.

There were practical difficulties near the time of his birth. For political reasons, the parents and unborn child had to travel to the other end of the country to register for taxes. Nothing new there then, just the tax burden of the times. This was around 2000 years ago, so there were no trains and buses, and the journey had to be made on foot with a donkey for luggage, as was normal for the time. This despite Mary’s baby being due at

what they did, and that is where the baby Jesus was born.
We remember Jesus’ birthday because of the significance of his adult
life as a healer and radical teacher, and because of the way he died. He became the person we now refer to as the living Christ, God’s anointed One, – our Saviour. Please remember this birthday story because of the significance of Jesus as you get and give presents or food during your celebrations this Christmas.
And the very best of good wishes for Christmas 2014!
Physiotherapy for Knee Pain
Hello, I am Eileen Lewis, I have a BSc in Physiotherapy and also am a qualified Acupuncturist with over 20 years experience. In this months edition I would like to discuss Knee Pain, the causes and symptoms and how physiotherapy can help.
The knee contains two joints, namely, the tibiofemoral joint (the main part of the knee) and the patellofemoral joint (the kneecap). There are several ligaments at the knee joint, which ensure good stability, the main ones are: the Medial Collateral Ligament (on the inside), the Lateral Collateral Ligament (on the outside) and the Posterior and Anterior Cruciate Ligaments (which lie internally). There are also many other structures including the bones, menisci (or cartilage), fat pad, bursa and of course the muscles.
If any of these structures become damaged they can cause pain, swelling, bruising or stiffness in and around the knee joint. Symptoms may be of sudden onset after an injury or trauma, or of slow gradual onset as a result of several different causes. A few you may have heard of are, joint degeneration (Osteoarthritis), tendinopathy and bursitis (Housemaids Knee). There are many more, too many to mention in this short article. Physiotherapy can help to diagnose the root cause of the knee pain and treatment then may include advice, exercises to improve movement and strength, mobilisations, taping, ultrasound or acupuncture.
So, if you have a problem with your knee, acute or chronic, please give me a call on 01234 881 400 have a look at my website or email me
