Olney v Stewarts & Lloyds
Olney Infant Academy
the conversion attempt just failed, and the score progressed to 18-3 in Olney’s favour. Following a scrum on the visitor’s 10m. line Olney delivered the ball, Ollie Caplin, at 9, fed Kerr who stepped inside the flat S&Lloyds defence and outstripped everyone to run in a try, not converted. This increased the home side’s lead to 23-3. Olney brought on Will Parkin to replace Jonny Munday. The 10 mins. ‘sin bin’ must have revitalised the visitor’s scrum, following a lineout on Olney’s throw he picked up a loose ball and sprinted half the length of the pitch to score in the corner. No conversion, score: 23-8. (30 mins.)
From the kick off, Olney secured possession and Jon Brice linked with the backs to send S&Lloyds defence first one way then the other. From the ensuing ruck the ball came loose and Kerr, on hand again, picked up and squeezed through for his ‘hat trick’. No conversion, score: 28-8 to Olney after 34 mins. (excl. extra time).

This month, our thoughts have been with our Ebola-hit partnership school REC Primary School in Newton, Sierra Leone, which has been
closed for the foreseeable future. This is while the government limits peoples’ movements and, hopefully, the spread of the Ebola Virus too.
In response to the many deaths in the area, we launched an appeal to brighten the lives of orphaned children. Pupils at Olney Infant Academy were asked to donate childrens’ vests, soft toys and small, light toys, such as matchbox cars and tennis balls.
Our children responded brilliantly and the
Olney Newton Link Charity was delighted to
receive three sacks of toys and more than 100
vests from us. Donations continue to arrive and a second shipment is already planned, with the hope that our pupils will have helped to bring a smile to a child’s face in challenging times.
On a lighter note, pupils came to school dressed as superheroes on November 14th, with donations going to Children in Need. The children were also encouraged to bring a teddy to school that day.
The new Wednesday singing club has started well and they have started to practise for their Christmas plays on December 9th, 10th and 11th. There will also be a special tea and preview performance of our Christmas concerts for senior citizens on Monday December 8th.
