Official Opening Weekend
You may have noticed that, for the last 11 months, building and remodelling work has been carried out at the back of the Baptist Church by the Market Place. The aim was to improve and update our kitchen and toilet facilities, to replace a dangerous staircase and to create more space for the different age groups and their activities. We hope that the new areas will also be suitable for some community groups to use during the week. This phase, now completed, has complemented Phase 1, which was the refurbishing of the main part of the church.
We would like to invite all those who are interested to come along and see the finished work. To that end we are opening up the church on the weekend of the 10th and 11th October. The programme will be as follows:
Saturday 10th October
10.00am – 5.00pm
Visitors welcome, refreshments available.
Sunday 11th October
10.00am
Thanksgiving service & reconsecration of those previously buried in the churchyard.
12.00 noon – 4.00 pm
Visitors welcome, refreshments available.
This year’s Holiday Bible Club was called “Lightspeed” and took place from 3rd – 7th August. The theme was going up into space, at the speed of light, and the Bible stories centred around Jesus being the Light of the World.
Around 200 children and young helpers attended over the week, and you may have heard or seen us around the town. We were delighted that the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Keith Maclean, could join us, as well as Peter Geary. We were also very pleased that we could move back into the Baptist Church and use the new extension for this event.
Next year’s Holiday Bible Club will take place from 8th – 12th August 2016, so Mums and Dads, make a note in your diary for next year!
