Charity Fashion Show
A charity fashion show is being held on Thursday 1st October in aid of the Newport Pagnell and Olney Lions club. The event, being held at Desmond Smail’s Aston Martin showroom, will showcase new collections from Noa Noa and Bex Boutique. Tickets are priced at £10 which includes drinks and canapés. There will also be a raffle with some fantastic prizes. More details in next months Phonebox Magazine.
Olney Open Gardens
An open garden afternoon is being planned for Olney next summer on Sunday 3rd July, 2016. The aim is to raise money for local charities. If you are willing to open your garden (size immaterial, perfection not required) or assist with helping at this event, then the organisers would love to hear from you.

Lucy Atwood Selected
Lucy Attwood from Olney RFC has been selected for the 2015/16 National U18 Talent Development Group (England don’t play matches at this age group). She was also in this group in 2014/15.
She is in the England U18s 7s squad, with 12 of that squad being picked at the end of this

For the second year, she is taking part in School Games in Manchester in early September, representing England – Midlands. It is a 7s tournament with four England teams, one for each region and also teams for each of Wales (usually two teams), Ireland and Scotland.
In May she attended the trials for the England U20s squad for 2015/16.
Olney Community Allotment
The Community Allotment is to be officially opened on Saturday September 13th. Steve Clark is to officiate. There will be demonstrations on various gardening skills as well as refreshments.
Representatives from the MK Community Fund, Santander and John Lewis will also be present.
Proceedings will start at 1.00pm.
Film Northants
Judges have announced the shortlist of 12 finalists for the annual Film Northants short film competition. The films will be screened as part of the eighth Film Northants Festival being held at Errol Flynn Filmhouse across the weekend of October 10 and 11.
The competition includes an Under 16s and Over 16s category, with online audiences deciding who wins the coveted Over 16s Public Vote prize via a vote on the Film Northants website.
Lily Canter, Festival Chair said: “It is now
up to the public to decide who should be crowned the 2015 Film Northants Over 16s winner. You can watch all of the shortlisted films on our website and then vote for your favourite made in Northants film online. It is going to be a really tight contest this year.” To vote, visit filmnorthants.co.uk. Voting closes on September 4 at midnight.
Heritage Open Days
Milton Keynes Heritage Open Days mark their 10th anniversary with over 50 free events for local families between Thursday 10 and Sunday 13 September.
Organised by Living Archive with support from Milton Keynes Council, MK Heritage Association and other partners, the annual celebration of the city’s distinctive and world- class heritage, art and culture has grown from just 15 events in 2006.
This year thousands of adults and children from Milton Keynes and the surrounding area are expected to enjoy exhibitions, workshops, open days, craft events and performances to suit all ages – and all for free over the four days.
With more than two dozen local organisations involved, from major museums to smaller local venues, there’ll be something happening in every corner of Milton Keynes and beyond.

Oxjam Olney
There will be an Acoustic Folk Roots Performance at The Two Brewers in Olney on Friday 16th October at 7.30pm.
The evening will include fiddles, acoustic guitars, penny whistles, a hammer dulcimer, and singing.
Tickets are priced at £12 which includes a fish and chip supper. These are available from Olney Oxfam or online via We Got Tickets. All proceeds to Oxfam.
