Planning Appeal
Separately we have been advised that following the decision not to grant planning permission for 36 new homes on land off the High Street in Sherington earlier this year, an appeal has been submitted by the applicant. At the time of writing it’s unclear what form the appeal will take, however, we will inform residents of the process and timescales once this has become clear in future articles.
BOFF once again lives up to expectations
Last month also saw the Big Olney Food Festival take place. This two day event celebrating local food and drink was yet again supported by many from across the local community. A big thank you goes to all those involved in organising the event and to the volunteers who gave up their time to ensure BOFF keeps its place as a highlight in the town’s social calendar.

Emberton Fete
Not wanting to be outdone, Emberton staged its annual fete in the magnificent grounds of Church Farm during September. Featuring a variety of stalls and games, along with music provided by the Olney Brass Band the event raised over £7,000 towards the maintenance of All Saints Church an important part of the village community.
Olney Community Allotments open for business
We are pleased to report the opening of the Olney Community Allotment. This project gives residents who want to grow their own produce the opportunity to do so without having to manage an entire plot. Gardening tools along with help and advice are also on offer to anyone who is interested in growing fruit, vegetables and flowers. We understand that some events are also planned over the coming weeks and months to help promote this excellent initiative.

Neighbourhood Plan in Sherington
We begin this month’s article with an update on Sherington’s Neighbourhood Plan which has been progressing over the past few months. A residents’ survey has now been completed and we were pleased to attend a very well supported public exhibition in the village during early September when presentations were made by the Steering Group. This demonstrates the continued interest of many residents in the development and growth of their village. Anyone wanting to submit their views on the process can do so by emailing: nplan@sherington.org.uk.

Lavendon Show and Scarecrow Funweek
In September residents in Lavendon hosted the village’s annual show, one of many shows of this type taking place at the end of the summer. This event has been run since the 1940s and now incorporates a well-supported Scarecrow competition alongside trophies awarded for more traditional classes such as home grown vegetables, fruit, flowers and crafts. Congratulations go to all the winners including Lavendon School and the Green Man who triumphed with their entries in the Scarecrow competition for Children and Adults respectively. The event raised over £800 which will be used to support and maintain the Village Hall.
