What’s On
Charmian Hayes
Fur, Flesh and Fripperies November 4 @ 10:30 am - November 27 @ 4:30 pm (Free entry to the Three Hares Art Gallery)
The exhibition covers three aspects of her work – animal portraits, paintings of people, and still life. All the paintings in the exhibition have been produced during the past three years.
Charmian has been a member of Milton Keynes Society of Artists since 2010 and is currently its Chair. She has exhibited with the Society many times, but this is her first solo exhibition.

in concert with ‘Pavane’ November 14 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm (Tickets £15 from the museum)
Do join us on Saturday 14 November at what promises to be a wonderful evening of beautiful music by a leading composer
and musician. Tickets £15 from the Cowper and Newton Museum shop. Venue: St Peter and St Paul Parish Church, Church Street, Olney. Doors open 7.00pm, concert starts at 7.30pm. Ticket includes glass of wine. Clips from the tracks of ‘Pavane’ can be heard on Paul’s website: www.paulhiggs.co
Cowper Revaluated: Celebratory book launch and poetry reading by Neil Curry November 14 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm (Free admission to this event – usual admission applies to see the museum and gardens)
To mark the end of this year’s season of events, we welcome Cumbrian-based poet and literary critic Neil Curry to talk about his new book on Cowper and sign copies. His talk begins at 2.30pm in the Museum, to be followed by a glass of wine and readings from Neil’s latest book of poetry, Some Letters Never Sent, published last year by Enitharmon Press.
Cowper admirers will appreciate Neil’s
reassessment of Cowper as a more complex figure than the timid country gentleman so often depicted. His new book shows how ground-breaking Cowper’s poetry was and urges us to see why Wordsworth and Coleridge held him in such high esteem. Neil’s readings of his own poetry are much sought after. The afternoon promises to be a rare treat for booklovers and museum supporters.
Dickens of a Christmas December 6 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm (Free admission - donations always most welcome)
We will be joining the rest of the town again this year celebrating Dickens of a Christmas. Look out for our stall at the north end of the High Street selling Mulled Wine. Come and be entertained at the Museum where tea, coffee and hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows will be on sale.
