Olney Middle School
School Council Elections
Olney Middle School held their School Council Elections on Friday 2nd October. The children spent the day learning about democracy and other British values. Having decided who wanted to run for election,
children formed campaign groups, made badges, rosettes, posters and hats in support of one candidate. The children then voted for who they believed would be the best person to represent the pupil’s views and contribute to numerous fundraising activities throughout the year. After the votes were counted, the winners were announced in a special afternoon assembly. Our guest of honour, the Lord Mayor, presented the 16 newly elected Councillors with their very own badge and answered questions about his own experiences of elections. It truly was a day to remember for all!
Stoke Goldington School
Harvest celebrations
Stoke Goldington celebrated Harvest Festival with a lovely assembly in School for parents, friends and family.
The 14 ‘Busy Bees’ in Early Years Foundation Stage
painted fruit and vegetable faces which they proudly displayed to the audience, and eagerly performed all the new songs they had learnt for the occasion.
Meanwhile the 17 ‘Learning Ladybirds’ across Years 1 and 2 were keen to show everyone the freshly baked bread they had made during class and each recited their own harvest poems. All the children brought in donations of items to be passed on to Milton Keynes Foodbank, a charity which the School is always keen to support throughout the year.
Cyberman Invasion
parents, grand-parents and members of the community at All Saints Church in Turvey. Each class presented a themed sketch or song which both celebrated and gave thanks for the Harvest and the work of our rural community.
Our children, with the support of their families, created Harvest boxes which were taken to support people less fortunate than themselves at BeCHaR (Bedford Concern for the Homeless & Rootless) in Prebend Street, Bedford and the Bedford Food bank.
If you would like your child to attend a small rural school, whether you live in or outside catchment, please call us on (01234) 881259 and we would love to show you around.
Turvey Lower School
The children of Turvey Lower School have had a busy first half to the Autumn term preparing for Harvest. Each class had fun creating
scarecrows in time for Turvey’s Apple Pressing Day. A theme of CBeebies characters inspired the children to create fun and realistic versions of Mr Bloom, Sean the Sheep and Iggle Piggle...although thanks to Dr Who fans in our Dolphins class, the school had an invasion from a cyberman.
The children then went on to create harvest inspired tea light holders out of jam jars, which they sold to help raise funds to extend the school’s Trim Trail on our playing fields.
The children ended Harvest by entertaining
