Emberton Park Footbridge
There has been recent discussion regards the proposal to link the Olney Circular Walk to Emberton Park via a new footbridge.
The footbridge would link Olney Town Council / Community land at the Goosey off Weston Road with Emberton Park. Discussions are ongoing with the Environment Agency who are responsible for the river Ouse, Milton Keynes Rights of Way officers and also Olney and Emberton communities. Olney Middle School have also volunteered to assist with the environmental impact assessment if one is needed.
Ideas on funding the bridge and sourcing a suitable bridge are welcome as there is currently no budget. This could include a second hand bridge. Also a name for the bridge is also welcome. One thought was Elizabeth bridge to commemorate the Queens record time as monarch.
If you would like to get involved or have any names, funding ideas please Colin Rodden at mosaic.initiative@talk21.com.
Ben’s Brace Ruins Rovers – Matt Delaney
A brace from Ben Reeves and a Simon Church header proved the be the difference on Saturday 17th October as Dons ended their seven game winless streak with a convincing 3-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers. The away side were down to 10 men just nine minutes after kick off as Adam Henley was sent to the changing room for bringing down Josh Murphy in the box. Reeves stepped up to send Jason Steele the wrong way and gift manager Karl Robinson with a dream start to the match.
In Brief
Dons’ winger Josh Murphy was a thorn in Rovers’ side all afternoon, he found continuous joy down the left wing, consistently beating Ben Marshall and delivering accurate balls into the box. His persistence paid off late in the second half, Murphy’s floated cross bulleted off of Church’s head and past Steele into the net. The Dons striker picking up his second goal in an MK jersey since joining from Charlton in the summer.
Reeves then added a third in stoppage time, slotting the ball past Steele to round off an inspiring performance by Karl Robinson’s men. The win moves Dons three points clear of the relegation zone whilst also giving them their first league win since their 1-0 victory over Bolton on the 18th of August.
