Newport Pagnell Wins Prestigious Planing Award
Dear Editor, News just in about which we are very proud. The Newport Pagnell Neighbourhood Plan, prepared by the Newport Pagnell Town Council and Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, won the Award for Neighbourhood Planning presented at the prestigious Planning Awards event. Shortlisted as one of four excellent Neighbourhood Plans, Cllr Winsor, who attended the award event in London, was delighted to receive the award for the Plan being the best example of a Neighbourhood Plan in the United Kingdom.
But the praise didn’t end there – as the evening progressed Cllr Winsor was surprised to nd himself called upon again to receive the overall Editor’s Award from The Planning Society, as the most signi cant contribution towards planning from the 40 award categories of planning awards for both Placemaking and Planning. This is de nitely the ‘icing on the cake,’ for all the hard work undertaken over a three year period by those residents, councillors and o cers of the Town Council involved in the Steering Group, and for those many, many residents who voted yes to support the Neighbourhood Plan.
The awards were presented by Julia Harley-Brewer, journalist, political commentator and media presenter.

Emberton School
Dear Editor, I am a parent of a child at Emberton School and am aware of rumours being spread that are untrue and are damaging our amazing school. My daughter attends and loves it, she is thriving in the environment as are all the children. I accept that each child is unique but for me and my daughter the positives de nitely outweigh any negatives so I’d respectfully ask that those spreading rumours to stop.
There are so many positives about the school and I don’t have space to go into them here but what I love most are the Forest School and weekly assemblies to celebrate the children’s learning. The parents are invited every week to attend this assembly during which the children sing songs and tell us about what they’ve been doing. The children are encouraged in their independent learning and will, every week, tell Mrs Norton, the head teacher, what they’ve been doing. This is read out at assembly along with achievement awards given by the teacher. With any small village school arranging after school clubs can present a challenge, but Mrs Norton, has taken it upon herself to offer a free after school club which is well attended. The children respond really well to her and always come out full of beans waving their latest artwork.
Our school is not closing and it would be a devastating loss to my daughter and Emberton village if it did. You are always welcome to come and see for yourself and I’d be happy to talk to any parent thinking of sending their child to Emberton School, just leave your number with Wendy at the School and I will call you. Kind regards, Samantha Pye
Open House Thanks
Dear Editor, Many thanks to all the kind people who attended my ‘Open House Weekend’ in May in aid of ‘Animals in Need’ and all those who donated in any way. A special thanks to my two main helpers Mark Cook and Shannon Addison. Without their help on both days it would not have been possible.
We managed to make a grand total of £400 and I am sure Animals in Need will put it to good use. Yours Sincerely, Joan Norton
