Editorial
This month we’re talking Civil War; no, not the fact that Brexit gained victory in the EU Referendum, or the fact that it was so close for some, or such a gap for others that no one should dispute it; but dispute it they probably will. No, we’re talking English Civil War, the original one, the one that happened in 1642, some 350 years ago, and we’ve a lot more information about it and the re-enactment that is taking place on bank holiday weekend in Newport Pagnell on Page 58 of this month’s magazine.
On the Referendum we have a quote from Mark Lancaster MP on his page and an article from David Pibworth inside on his thoughts of how things progressed on the night; let us hope that Dave catches up on his sleep and politicians from all parties wake up to the fact that they must now work towards a better Britain.
Having now been 350 years since the English Civil War, it does make one wonder whether, in another 350 years’ time, people will be celebrating our exit from the EU...
Now we may have lost the ‘roof over our heads’ of the EU but, nearer home, Newport Pagnell Football club have a problem with their own roof, which happens to be over their clubhouse. The clubhouse has been used for many events over the years – I know, I’ve been to a few, and they are in need of some help in fixing the roof so they, and others, can continue using the facility for many years to come. More on how you can help inside the mag.
