Pegasus Court and Manor Celebration
25th Anniversary
On the 29th June Olney Pegasus Residents’ Association (OPRA) held a tea party to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the opening of the development, to which a
number of guests were also invited.
The afternoon commenced with three short speeches, the speakers were introduced by OPRA Chairman, Ron Mihill. Olney’s Deputy Mayor, Cllr Ron Bull, explained the site had originally been a pig market, with the nearby car park accommodating cattle! He said he had recently been given a tour of the complex and wished the development continuing success for the next twenty ve years. Mr Chris Gurr, FirstPort’s Regional Manager then spoke on behalf of the Management Company, saying he was pleased to be part of the celebration marking the 25th Anniversary and added his best wishes for the development’s future. Mr John Jammes replied on behalf of the residents. He pointed out that he had been an owner occupier since 1991 and had thoroughly enjoyed his time in Freemans Gardens. He complimented the gardner, Martin Norwood, on keeping the grounds so attractive and mentioned the
fact that Martin had kindly provided and planted a tree to mark the 25th Anniversary. John also said that the residents appreciated Ian Ward’s contribution, ensuring the communal interior of the buildings was well kept. He was pleased to acknowledge the presence of a former resident, June Greer, who had been both a popular and valuable member of OPRA. John called upon all present to raise their glasses to toast the continuing success of the complex.
The Chairman then invited everyone to help themselves to the refreshments and said he would brave the inclement weather to unveil the commemerative plaque by the tree. Music was provided by “Two’s Company”.
