Emberton School
TIn the spirit of the Olympics
he children have been getting into the spirit of the 2016 Rio Olympics in their “Faster, Stronger, Higher” theme. For an introductory “Wow!” event to inspire the children’s learning we hosted a “pop up” board game tournament and
welcomed “Ready Steady Roll” into school who had the children and parents yelling with excitement and cheering each other on as they played exciting games that tested their skills and concentration! Check out the photos on www.facebook.com/EmbertonSchool. The children have made Rio holiday brochures, and created wonderful pieces of Brazilian art whilst listening to samba music! Having located Rio on a world map they explored ags of other countries and have been learning about the history of the Olympics. They have been writing instructions on how to play sports and have been inspired by such stories as “The Hare and The Tortoise” and “How The Cheetah Got His Speed”. Our theme nale was our Olympics Sports Day where Team GB, Team USA and Team China competed in the very challenging running, skipping and egg & spoon races, to name but a few and thank you to Jeni Henderson from Olney Middle School for helping to organise this with us.
For our annual Enterprise for Charity venture parents were invited to buy a picnic box designed by their own child and supplied in a carefully decorated brown paper bag. Menu choices included sandwiches, strawberries, ap jacks and carrot cake. Proceeds from this will go to our chosen charity Guide Dogs for the Blind.
We said a fond farewell to our year 2 leavers Olivia, Harrison, Lottie B, Lottie G, Jasmine, Liam and Lillie and Good Luck on the next stage of your learning journey at middle school! We also bid a very sad farewell to Mrs Heggie who, having been at Emberton School for eight years, is moving to start a new life in Surrey and will be sadly missed. However, the Foundation cohort, who will be joining us in September, have con dently waved “Bye!” to Mummy and Daddy and had several mornings of learning fun with their new friends; and we look forward to welcoming our new teacher Mrs Wheeler for the start of the Autumn term.
If you are interested in your child attending a small and unique rural school, come and see how we operate in our nurturing and enabling environment. It’s not too late to register for a place for September 2016 – contact MKC Admissions on 01908 253338; or maybe you are considering us for future years, in which case come along to our Open Day on Thursday 20th October. Check out our website at www. embertonschool.co.uk and call us on 01234 711518 during term time. We would love to show you around!
