Festival of Transport Thanks
It seems a long time ago that we held the 6th Festival of Transport at Whites Nurseries, Earls Barton, over the weekend of 4th and 5th June, but unfortunately it wasn’t quite the success we had hoped for. The weather wasn’t great on the Saturday, and so the numbers of exhibits and public were low, but we had hoped for better on the Sunday as the sun was out and it was a glorious day, but this still did not entice the numbers to increase to the amount we had expected. We covered our costs but did not come out with the surplus we needed to be able to put the event on again next year, and so it is with much regret that the Committee took the decision to close it down.
These type of events take a lot of planning and behind the scenes hard work starting at least 10 months in advance, and so when entry numbers and paying public are down, plus trade and craft stands were also low - something we have been told has happened at other shows - there comes a point when it isn’t viable to carry on. We have had a small dedicated band of stalwart volunteers who have helped us on the days of the event over the years, but realistically needed more help which has been hard to get.
So we would like to thank each and every one of you who has supported us in any way over the past 6 years, and to those who have come to the Festival as entrants, stall holders, paying public etc. We have enjoyed doing it, and will miss it, but hope that you will support the other like minded events held around the county, and we look forward to seeing you at these. Thank you all once again. Mick and Hazel Higham on behalf of the Festival of Transport Committee
