Editorial
A lot of people have been busy recently organising and producing events and fundraising for good causes both locally and internationally. We’ve had the Newport Pagnell Civil War Weekend Group organise a fantastic event over the August Bank Holiday, for the benefit of their town.
The Big Olney Food Festival, organised by Sam McCallum and her team, provided us with a two day event of food and music with the profits going to local causes.
There was also Musicians Against Homelessness, organised by Steve Wells, which saw a host of musical talent providing three days of music at local venues in Newport Pagnell. The event culminated with a fantastic gig by ‘Girl From Mars’ at the Craufurd Arms in Wolverton. Donations for the homeless were given to the charity Crisis.
We have a write up by Justin Crook who, with friends, took on the three peaks challenge, in memory of his son William Crook, and in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital.
We’ve also had a visit to The Jungle in Calais by local musician Ian Roberts, and friends, providing musical instruments and support to those who try to live there in extremely difficult conditions.
And local man John van Weenen shares with us his experiences of meeting and working with Mother Teresa, who has recently been canonised.
All this and more has been achieved by local people whose aim is to improve the lives of others and give something back to our community. I would like to personally say thank you to all those involved who have given up their time for the benefit of others. Well done.
