David is hoping everyone will act sensibly with regards their Christmas Party! Drinking and having fun is absolutely ne, but what about TAX?
• Tax relief applies to annual parties available to all staff and is set at £150 per head, including VAT. If the cost exceeds this, then the whole amount is taxable as a bene t in kind. Taxis home are included also. However, the same applies to guests of employees.
• Gifts to employees paid in cash or vouchers are always taxable. However, a reasonable seasonal gift such as a turkey or a box of chocolates should be okay.
• Gifts from a third party to employees under £250 will not be taxable.
