Olney Tennis Club
The Summer season is well underway at Olney. We have welcomed new members from the town and beyond and all have enjoyed the club sessions on Tuesdays and Sundays that are open to all. There are lots of juniors getting coached and playing matches who we hope may one day surpass the Murray boys!
The Mens Bucks team were all square after playing six sets versus Chesham Bois (See photo). The rain stayed away allowing some great games and Olney improved through the match to draw the game by Les and Mike winning the final rubber on a Tiebreak! The best results so far are from Rosemary Fenton's Ladies C team as they have won both matches so far against Winslow and Milton Keynes. Lynda Baker's Ladies B team are through to the next round of the MK Knockout after a good win. Coming up are the, always well supported, Club Summer Tournments (call Phil and Katie on 01234 710938 to enter) and there will be other events through the summer. K
Come down any Tuesday evening or Sunday afternoon and have a go – all standards are very welcome.

Sherington CE School news
Once again pupils rose to the challenge of an inspection this time by the Diocesan Inspector. With similar findings to our recent Ofsted exercise except that the management of a church school was upgraded to ‘outstanding’. Pupil confidence, attainments and attitude were praised after an unscripted walk around the school. As a result the whole school was rewarded with a visit to Prego in Newport Pagnell to make delicious DIY pizza. We thank both Prego and Mr Bob King for a most enjoyable and educational trip.
Our broadband internet supplier was impressed by our school recipe for pumpkin pie, particularly the length of time needed for preparing the ingredients (nine months as we have to grow the pumpkin first!). We await the result of the competition for healthy food and cooking that it was entered for.
Sherington Pre-School made the first of several liaison visits to share the school’s facilities. These enjoyable activities will lead into our induction visits specifically for the new cohort of children starting in September. We aim to achieve a seamless transition to school from pre-school settings as well as sharing our excellent facilities.
Don’t forget our 50th birthday Jubilee celebration on Saturday 30th June in the school and grounds from 2-5pm
