SPOT THE TRAFFiC WARDEN
We may not like them but there are a number of difficulties that Olney residents and visitors to the Town are currently experiencing where traffic wardens could help. There are now many users of mobility scooters, along with wheelchairs and pushchairs that need to access the sloped pavements allowing them to safely cross the road. If you look around there are quite a few, most obviously outside the Nat West Bank and Post Office these two sites in particular are often parked on by motorists in a hurry to dash somewhere. This presents an unfair obstacle for someone else to negotiate, likewise the white crosses in boxes in front of some residents access to their properties should be kept free for them to do just that.
Olney should receive a visit from an NCP traffic warden twice per day Monday to Saturday, also occasionally on Sundays, however this is not a fixed requirement. I am told they may do a ‘drive through’ stopping only if contraventions are observed. Please let me know if you have seen a traffic warden.
WiNDFARM UPDATE
As we await the next round of consultation on the Petsoe Manor Windfarm site and for further information submissions on the
Lavendon and Bozeat site, a proposal for
the erection of a nine turbine Windfarm at
Poddington has been convincingly
dismissed by Bedford’s Local Planning
Authority. In their opinion the scale and number of turbines would contravene many local planning policies and amongst other reasons would have been conspicuous and out of place in the rural landscape, having a significantly harmful impact on the local landscape character.
RAvENSTONE viLLAGE FETE
The sun shone on the beautiful gardens of Ravenstone House at this popular village fete, well done for the terrific organisation and to all who turned out to support the event. The Clifton Reynes Fete was also blessed with glorious sunshine and great attendance and a stunning location looking down over Clifton Hills. Many congratulations to all who worked so hard to raise money for local causes. I must add my apologies for giving misleading directions to the venue at Clifton Reynes and also in case any of you turned up on the Thursday instead of the Saturday, judging by the attendance no one was fooled by my error. ❑
