Olney B break Wing's unbeaten record!
Olney B achieved a great win last month beating Wing A by 6-2. Wing who had not been beaten before this season were crushed at their home venue by George Cheney, Phil Bennett, Paul McEvoy and Gun Chui Hwang.
Olney's mixed team also scored a good win against Wolverton A winning 6-2 with our team being Dave Tarry, Les Folds, Avril Samos and Kathy Danskin.
The Mens A match against Wolverton was rained off half way through the match as were other matches all together during a rainy May and early June.
The Mens Bucks team travelled all the way to Broomwade near High Wycombe. They were beaten by a good team but enjoyed the customary post match tea. The photo above shows Les Folds, George Cheney, Bob Allen, Paul McEvoy and Gun Chui Hwang (Captain Simon Barter was the photographer).
A well attended Charity American Tournament was run by Anne Foulkes. After a round robin series of matches, the winners were Gun Chui Wang and Gill Hogston.
New members of all standards are very welcome so come on down to the club on Tuesday evenings and Sunday afternoon club sessions. ❑
Rugby sevens fully booked!
All 20 places have been taken for Olney Rugby Club’s first ever rugby sevens tournament, taking place on Saturday 7 July.
Teams are coming from as far afield as Wales to join in the competition, which will see the winning team awarded the inaugural Olney Rugby Sevens Cup.
Over 200 players will descend on Olney for the event, and it is hoped that many players will join the club or their local rugby clubs and get back into this game.
In addition to the rugby there is off pitch entertainment with inflatable bungee runs and kicking games provided by the RFU, and rugby coaching sessions for children. The bar and BBQ will be open all day and people coming along will have the chance to purchase kit from a Raging Bull merchandise stand.
It is hoped the day will be such a success that it will become an annual event in the local rugby calendar.
