Newport Pagnell Rotary Club elects new President
Anew Rotary Year started on July 1st with the Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell electing Rotarian David Robertson as its new President for 2007/2008, David is a local man, having lived for the whole of his life in the area. Married to Felicity, and educated at Newport Pagnell and Wolverton, he followed a career in engineering until his early retirement in 2004. He joined the Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell in February 2000.
David was asked why he joined Rotary. “Well, primarily because I was invited to. I had friends in my village who were already members and they asked me along with them to the regular Wednesday evening meetings at the Swan Revived. I visited two or three times, listened to some interesting guest speakers and learned about Rotary and its range and wealth of both social and charity fund raising activities. What attracted me – and which has proved to be the case – was the opportunity to make new, lasting friendships and provide real help and support for others, and Rotary through its organisation and reputation has allowed me to be part of that.”
