PAT IS NEW CHAIRMAN
Pat Hudson is the new chairman of
Churches Together in Newport Pagnell. She has taken over from Klaus Reidel who, at the Forum in June, was warmly thanked for his two years as leader. The search is now on for a new secretary to replace Pat Parker who has come to the end of her term of office.
PEAKS CHALLENGE
Keith Bedford and his team completed the Three Peaks challenge in June and raised around £6,000 for the Bridgebuilder Trust which takes the Christian message into local schools.
WESLEY SINGALONG
More than 100 people enjoyed singing Charles Wesley's hymns at the Parish Church on July 6. The Rev Beverley Hollins introduced the programme commemorating the 300th anniversary of Wesley's birth. Hymns and songs were accompanied by the Milton Keynes Salvation Army Central Corps band (bandmaster Kevin Darah), organist Jennifer Mazzone and pianist Helen Rouse.
There were also items by the Parish Church choir under their conductor Ralph Mazzone. Those taking part were thanked by churchwarden Mervyn Evans
This is the 14th year that the Methodist Church has presented Celebration of Hymns – the first time in the Parish Church. Proceeds were shared between Willen Hospice and the reordering of the West end of the Parish Church. These plans include an improved entrance, a toilet, a kitchen and window-level platform for the bellringers.
CYCLING FOR HISTORIC CHURCHES
Plans are well advanced for the Bucks Historic Churches Trust annual sponsored cycle ride on Saturday, September 8. Cyclists and walkers will be visiting churches throughout North Bucks raising money that will be shared bertween the church of their choice and the Trust. Last year a total of £45,595 was raised – over £8,000 in the Newport Pagnell and Milton Keynes deaneries. K
