Roars of Thanks from the Lions
A heartfelt thanks to all the public of Newport Pagnell and Olney who so brilliantly supported the Lions club as we carried out our first ever Street Collection in October.
The magnificent sum of £280 was collected in a very short period of time and the members who took part clearly enjoyed the experience as you can see. We were truly amazed at the way we were able to separate the owner and their hard earned cash considering the current economic climate which just goes to show that there are a lot of compassionate people living in our two towns.
It is extremely gratifying to receive this level of support from so many people in our community and you can rest assured that the money will not rest in our bank account for any longer than necessary.
Lions clubs exist to support Local, National and International causes under their motto “We Serve” and your local club, despite being low in numbers, manage to raise approx £10,000 each year. Seventy five percent of this is spent locally and you will see elsewhere in the Phonebox, where a significant sum has gone this month. Keep an eye on ‘Phonebox’ for news of our other activities.
We are always keen to receive support of a non financial nature too. Lions Clubs are open to all, irrespective of gender, race, religion or political views - all we ask is that you have a desire to put something back into the community you live in. If
you would like to find out more about the club and how you can help, whether as a full member or one of our growing band of supporters we call on from time to time, please contact John Ferris on 01234 712217 or look at our website www.npolneylions.btik.com where you can drop us a line.
Better still, come along to Dickens of a Christmas on 6th December and drop into the Craft Fayre when you can have a chat with one of our members or supporters. We’d love to see you.
