Tea and cakes at the library
The Hulks, Tickford Park
Continuing our collaboration with our local library, a group of children was recently treated to tea and cakes courtesy of Wolverton based group, Word in Edgeways. This event saw the children sharing stories with older residents of the town, from tales of their schooldays and favourite games to the very kind lady who brought in her ration book and examples of just how small the quantities allowed had been. The children were amazed and seeing the food portioned out really brought it home to them how difficult things had been. This did not however, stop them from enjoying the wonderful array of cakes provided for them with their drinks.
This was a marvellous event which allowed the children to talk to people they may not otherwise have met and share experiences to widen their knowledge of life before they were born. We are very grateful to all the ladies and gentlemen who came to talk to the children, Word in Edgeways for organising the day and the library staff for hosting the event.
