Churches Together in Newport Pagnell
Christmas Open Air Service
The Annual Christmas Open Air Service took place as usual on the Saturday before Christmas on Market Hill outside Boots, although we started at 11am - an hour earlier than usual. Despite the cold and snowy weather the service went very well with some passers by stopping to listen for a while. About 50 people braved the snow to take part in the service.
New Years Day Walk
Another annual tradition is the New Years Day Walk which has been going for 10 years now. Christians walk through the town from one church to another with a short act of worship in each church. Although a cold day it was well supported with about 50 taking part with the walk being lead by the Churches Together in Newport Pagnell banner. The walk ended with refreshments at St Bedes.
United Reformed Church 350 Years in Newport Pagnell
This year the United Reformed Church in Newport Pagnell is celebrating its 350th Anniversary. In 1660 the parish priest in Newport Pagnell was dismissed from office because of disputes among the parishioners. He moved along the High Street and set up an Independent Church in a farmer's barn and for 350 years since
then the church has worshipped on the same site in three different buildings. In this celebratory year the church is planning all kinds of events to mark the anniversary, beginning with a series of Safari Suppers on 6th February and a visit to the church's German partner churches in the Palatinate. From 6th to 20th March there will be an Exhibition of Embroideries in the church on the theme of Peace and the Environment. On Thursday March 11th there will be the launch of weekly Meeting Point at 11.30 am to include a short period of worship, light lunch and discussion on topical themes. Meeting Point is an opportunity for anyone to drop in and take part.
Every Thursday at the URC:
9.30-11am TODDLER PRAISE. Songs, Bible stories, crafts and company! For pre-schoolers and their carers. Come along!
4-5pm PILOTS Group for children aged 4-7. Songs, Bible stories, crafts, games and fun! £1 per session.
