Update from the Olney NAG – August 2012
Traffic in Olney has been one of the issues that the Olney NAG has been addressing for some time and recently a specific issue of speeding vehicles along Weston Road has been highlighted.
As a direct result of these reports the NAG has looked into ways of dealing with them, both by enforcement and education.
Information signs (as shown below) have been sourced and erected on Weston Road to encourage drivers to slow down.
Susan Hughes, Chair of the Olney NAG said “I am delighted that the NAG, together with Olney Town Council and Milton Keynes Council have been instrumental in delivering a safety initiative along Weston Road which, together with formal speed enforcement should make a big difference and hopefully avoid a tragic accident”.
PC Andy Perry, the local police officer for the Town said “It is very refreshing to see the proactive efforts of the NAG to try and make small differences to the lives of the Olney residents and make it a nicer place to live. Little things can some- times fester into bigger issues and the NAG members work very hard to raise the profile of, and deal with local problems. I hope that the signs will reinforce the 30mph limit so that speed enforcement becomes unnecessary”.
We’ve just got a whole lot bigger!
