If youʼre missing the buzz of a nation alive with sporting competition, fear not, the Rugby season is almost here and it promises to be a cracker at Olney RFC! Inspired by the efforts of Team GB in the Olympics, there have been good numbers working hard at pre-season training, with the start of contact
training on the back of the hard graft of conditioning and skills training during July. Taking pre-season training to a whole new level, 1st XV player Paddy Leahy completed the Mount Snowdon challenge; 10 miles in 1 hour 52 to the top of Snowdon and back down! Good preparation for a long tough season.
We would love to support this drive especially with Rugby featuring in the next Olympics in 2016. Contrary to popular myth, Rugby is the perfect sport for players of all shapes, sizes and capabilities, with positions for everyone from sprinters and endurance athletes to hammer throwers, gymnasts, wrestlers, boxers and weightlifters. The season starts on Sunday 2nd September at 10.30 am, and our RFU qualified coaches are well equipped at every age group from U6 to Colts to provide a safe and fun introduction to the sport. So come along and give it a “try”!
Pre-season trial matches towards the end of August will be hotly contested, with competition for places in our first home game of the season against local rivals Milton Keynes on September 8th. Get down and support the team and enjoy a great afternoon of fast, free-flowing entertaining Rugby.

There have been plenty of other activities during the summer, with the club running a charity Rounders Day, and taking part in the
very successful Olney Olympics Day on 27th July.

Sticking with the Olympics theme, Sir Steve Redgrave sent a rallying cry to sports clubs around the country at the closing ceremony of the Olympics; “We have to act now, to seize a fabulous moment for British sport and deliver on our promise to inspire a generation. It is up to our sports clubs to prepare for the new-found interest in sport.”
Lost Trainers
After having a fantastic fun filled time at the Olympic Opening Ceremony and a few bounces on the bouncy castle my son has come home with mis-matched trainers. If your child has pink Nike Mercurials and has lost a size 13 or a size 3 let me know. Also, if your child has taken a pair of 2 1/2s can you please get in touch?
