OLNEY NAG
During December our Police Rural
Neighbourhood Supervisor, PC Andy
Perry, undertook a project with Years 3 and
4 at Olney Middle School, sponsored by
Olney Neighbourhood Action Group. The
concept was to explain what
Neighbourhood Policing is about, how it is
carried out, what equipment is used (the
handcuffs were a big hit!) and the importance of good behaviour and co-operation in our community. The children were invited to design a poster incorporating what they had learnt.
On 14th December 2012 PC Andy Perry and I attended an Assembly at Olney Middle School to present the book he had compiled, entitled “People that help us....The Police” to Assistant Head Miss Morgan as a record of his visit.
The prize for the best poster was awarded to Ivo Duncan with second prize awarded to Emily Robbins, each received a framed photograph of their poster. A larger framed photograph of Ivo’s poster, to be displayed within Olney Middle School, was presented to the Headmaster, Mr Allman.
It was a privilege to sponsor this project and to present the book and prizes on behalf of Olney Neighbourhood Action Group. Special thanks to PC Andy Perry for this initiative and to Years 3 & 4 for their involvement and super poster designs, many of which appear in the book.
