Our new children have settled in well and have enjoyed our “Look Out for Tigers!” theme. Across Foundation and Key Stage 1 the children have written non-fiction
books on tigers, jungle poems and measured jungle animals and plants. They have created camouflage and animal patterns and tried their hands at weaving. For our Harvest Festival the children sang lots of favourite harvest songs including Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World”; and then recreated the Bengali folk tale of “The Old Woman and the Red Pumpkin” to the delight of their watching parents. Our FOES parents organised a wonderful harvest raffle to raise funds for the school and our harvest gifts were gratefully received and taken to the MK Foodbank to help those in need. In Forest Schools with Mrs Kirkland the children spent a happy hour building their own dens after hearing A Stormy Night on Tangleweed Island by Hilary Horder Hippely; and our Tiger Tea Party based on the book “The Tiger Who Came to Tea” will provide an exciting climax before we break for half term.
We are inviting parents to our weekly Celebration assemblies where children who have tried extra hard in their learning are rewarded with a special certificate. We hope that this inspires all the children to be the best that they can be. At our recent open morning we welcomed many prospective parents and children and hope that we have helped them to make a confident choice about their child’s first learning journey.
If you would like your child to attend a rural school with small class sizes, contact us on 01234 711518 and we would be delighted to show you around. Application forms for the September 2014 intake (children born between 1 September 2009 and 31 August 2010) are now available from school or from Milton Keynes Council.

The children were busy last month on School trips visiting Salcey Forest. First off, all 15 Learning Ladybirds in Years 1 and 2 spent a brilliant day at the Tall Oaks Forest School learning all sorts of woodland crafts.
The children donned their wet-weather gear for a fantastic day outside run by Forest Leaders. They made small dens for gnomes and fairies before moving on to building bigger dens which they could all fit in themselves. The children then constructed forest school stars, bows and arrows and amazing catapults, working together to design each item before collecting their supplies and building them.
Deputy Headteacher Mrs. Marie-Claire Parsons said: “Every child loved the whole day spent in the forest. We had a hot lunch around a camp fire and got muddy from head to toe making woodland items, it was fantastic. None of the children wanted to go home and we are already planning our next trip to Salcey, the Forest School is a brilliant initiative!”
The following week the 11 children in Busy Bees Early Years Foundation Stage joined with the Busy Bees from our partner school, North Crawley CE First School, for a special Autumn walk in the forest. The Busy Bees loved exploring the renowned Treetop Walk in Salcey Forest and had great fun collecting items from the forest floor whilst using up lots of physical energy in the great outdoors!
Forthcoming trips this term include a visit to the Buddist temple in Milton Keynes along with an end- of-term Christmas trip to watch Alice in Wonderland at The Stables at Wavendon.

It has been a busy Autumn Term so far, with lots going on! Our Roald Dahl day was a real success, and we have learnt so much about his stories, as well as the school having Oompa Loompas, Mr Twit and the terrifying Miss Trunchbull in attendance!
We have been on a trip to Campbell Park to learn all about art in nature. The landscape is really changing and the children enjoyed their visit, asking lots of questions and behaving beautifully. Hopefully it will give us inspiration for
our entry into the Schools Garden Container competition – we won last year and have set a real precedent now.
We are about to start learning the songs for our Christmas production of ‘The Sleepy Shepherd’ which will make school feel very Christmassy! We are looking forward to welcoming people into our school on the 12th November for our open morning – we love it when people come in to see what exciting things we are doing.
