Olney Tennis Club
Now the days are getting longer, come and play tennis and enjoy fresh air, exercise and a lot of fun at OTC. You can play in groups or with your family and friends. Adult membership is under £2 a week. So what’s stopping you!
There are also coaching sessions for all ages – young and old. So come along and have a go. Team Results
The A team made it three wins out of four. They beat David Lloyd 6-3 thanks to our Junior stars, Susie and Daniel Cornwell, Eleanor Carter and Phil Anderson.
The B team remain unbeaten and top of
their division after Gun Chui Hwang, Freddie
Guilmard, Sarah Wilkinson and Glynise King
earned a tough draw against a strong Newport N Pagnell side.

The C team came up against a strong Great Brickhill first team and lost 1-7 despite big efforts by Phil Bennett, Ian Dunkley, Lynda Baker and Anne Bacon.
The D team lost a tight match against another A team of Great Linford. Juniors Xavier Vale Buisson and Charlie Bootman did well but with the ladies Emma Maitland and Amanda Elliott lost 3-5.
The E Team had a great win against Newport Pagnell C and are having a good season to date. They won 5-3 thanks to super husband and wife team Nicola and Paul Norbury plus Jo Bedward and Nick Hardy.
The new Bucks Vets team won their second match and lead their division. A resounding 8-0 win was achieved by Phil and newly returned Jane Anderson, Eleanor Carter and Nigel Willard against Gerrards Cross Dukes Wood.
New Tuck Shop
Emma Maitland is running a Tuck Shop on Saturday mornings to feed all those hungry supporters and players of all sports so head down to the tennis club next time you are near and enjoy tasty treats!
Socials
The March Quiz Night sold out all 90+ tickets in less than two weeks! Thanks to Jo Walker for organising the sale so well.
There will be a Ceroc Dance Night in June. We used to run these regularly and are sure it will sell out just as quickly. Look out for details.
Safety
We have given Court 4 a professional clean so all courts are in very good condition. However please do take care during the cold months as frost and rain can make the courts slippery.
American Tournament
The next event is on Sunday 16 February at 1pm. Open to all adults and 13 and above Juniors. Sign up in the clubhouse.

ewport Pagnell Town’s post-Christmas football action is perfectly summed up by the accompanying photograph of two players standing next to an empty pitch on a Saturday afternoon. At the time of writing this in mid- January the wet weather has prevented Newport playing any football since the 1-0 defeat to Kempston Rovers at Willen Road on Boxing Day.
Three consecutive Saturday afternoon matches have been postponed because of waterlogged pitches, firstly an away match at Stewarts & Lloyds Corby and then two home matches at Willen Road.
With Newport now in 17th place in the United Counties league Premier Division, dangerously close to the relegation places, it was particularly frustrating that two of the postponements were of important matches against the teams below Newport in the league, from which they would have been hoping to pick up vital points.
With so many players leaving the club in the summer it has inevitably been a difficult season, with the need to re-build a team that can be successful at this level, but the Newport manager, Darren Lynch, remains optimistic and had the following to say about the current situation:
