Fishing
Olney and Clifton Fishing Association
Fishing season on rivers ends Friday 14th March. Just six weeks, therefore, in which to beat current specimen fish: Barbel 14lb 11oz, Bream 8lb 3oz, Chub 6lb 10oz, Perch 3lb 4oz and Tench 6lb 10oz.
Match results were sometimes disappointing. Even so, the Annual Cup was won with 16lb 11oz, the Fiesta Cup with 12lb 1oz, the Citizen and Two Brewers Cups both with 11lb – not too bad! £125 was donated to R.B.L. Willen Open is on February 16th.
Members enjoy pleasure fishing, match angling and specimen fishing. Interested? Visit our website www.olneyfishing.co.uk or phone M. Lake 713186 or D. Partridge 240061.

ood win for the team before Christmas against Leicester Forest 24-15, dominating the opposition in the forwards providing the backs with a great platform to play off.
“It’s been a frustrating time with all the games being called off but it has given the squad
a chance to work hard and most importantly to get to know each other more as we’ve G had a lot of new players join.
“The atmosphere and team spirit have risen around the club and we are prepared and
ready for the battle that awaits in the second half of the season.
“We have had great support from the fans and hope to give them a better end to a
very testing season!”
Despite some disappointing results, the performances of players coming into the team
recently suggest that there is a good foundation to build on for next season if Newport
can collect enough points in the remaining matches to make their Premier Division
place safe. Come along to Willen Road for the remaining home matches and give
them your support!
Provisional fixtures for February give Newport just three matches, all away, at Holbeach,
Desborough and Boston, but keep an eye on the Newport Pagnell Town Football Club
website, www.pitchero.com/clubs/newportpagnelltown or look out for posters around
the town for details of any rescheduled home matches.
The lineout worked particularly well through the game giving the team territory and possession and some well worked tries.
Following on from the Christmas break the team were in good form against a strong Market Harborough side, coming out eventual winners 25-10 following some dogged defence in the first half which set the tone for the rest of the game, with Market Harborough only adding one score after half time.
The winning run was brought to an end last weekend in a tough away fixture versus Newbold- on-Avon. The game was a tighter affair than the 35-14 score line suggests, with Olney just needing to be a bit more clinical in attack to convert opportunities.
In order to help match days run smoothly at the Rugby Club, we need a part-time catering organiser for Saturday afternoons. If you are able to help and have a current Hygeine Certificate, please contact Dean Henrickson. 07831 789646
