on the day in question , I would also add on the very day this activity took place NOT one other single crime occurred in Olney so this activity is often much wider than road traffic legislation enforcement and benefits all our communities.
Your article makes lightinappropriate humour of crimes surrounding hostage taking and the appalling Jimmy Saville inv estigation, again as a Senior Local Police Commander but also as a very experienced serious crime investigator both these types of crimes are life changing for all those involved and this humour is both inappropr iate and offensive. Finally, as for ha ving a bit of a rest and recuperation , this comment is also in exceptional poor taste , my officers and staff work tremendously
hard for our communities we serve and we are proud of that fact.
If you think saving lives is considered as a rest and recuperation event perhaps you should experience the pain and anguish my officers see and can almost feel every time they visit a family to explain a loved one has been tragically taken away from them .
I welcome your views , but to conclude this article is misguided , offensive and in my view is a very poor editorial error of judgement. I hope you will consider retracting this article .
I await your comments .

The Big Question
You arrive in Olney on a Thursday morning at
07.30 hours and see seven Police cars and 14 policemen and women milling around the Nat West bank.
Do you assume that:
a) A bank heist has occurred and that hostages are being held and tense negotiations are taking place between highly trained specialists and desperate criminals demanding a helicopter and £1.5 million cash.
b) The ghost of Jimmy Savile has been spotted lurking about in the alleyway by the chip shop, or c) The Thames Valley police are on an away day social, nicking a few people for 'Seatbelt Non Compliance while travelling in a Southerly direction on Olney High Street' and generally having a bit of rest and recuperation.
Answers to the Chief Constable please, while I just go and change my car.
