Guitar Workshop For All ailing all those interested in Clearning to play guitar and those wanting to develop their skills, I've got 20 places available for a ten week course on how to play guitar (or ukulele or mandolin). This is a great opportunity to learn from experienced musicians , I'm a singer/songwriter who plays guitar, I have recently released a new EP and have been playing in bands all my life, including working alongside a number of well-known musicians. I have teamed up with two excellent local guitar/ukulele/mandolin teachers, Gary Campion and Paul Roberts , and we will be teaching every Saturday morning for a two hour learning workshop at the back building of The Cowpers Oak pub in Weston Underwood. The course will end with the opportunity for all those involved to join me on stage for our own gig at The Cowpers Oak , to showcase your new skills in front of a live audience . This is a chance to learn songs that you will perform. I strongly believe that in today's musical education system, many people treat playing and learning their instrument as a technical exercise rather than a practice of artistic 1fevin11iney PHOTOGRAPHY Photo I.D.s:Passports Driving Licences, UK and Foreign Visas merit and fun, let's not forget that we do this for fun too . What styles of music do you enjoy listening to? Why is it that you enjoy it? Why don't you try and play what you love instead of learning your bog standard ABRSM approved grade pieces? Of course, technical fluency and learning scales are an important part of any instrumental discipline. However, that part is very easy to cover once you are already playing music that you enjoy. I'd like to encourage all new musicians to work out how to play the tunes they hum in their head and even play along to their favourite tracks, that's how I learnt to play, and I know it works. So, students will learn songs, and how to read simple guitar tablature so they can continue to play and learn whatever songs they like after the course ends. The course is designed to teach and further your own musical ambitions and talents in a direction that suits you, and you will be taught the skills to enable you to do this . Learning in a group environment is much easier and far more fun than on a one-to-one basis, and the group setting allows people to feed off each other and inspire one another. And of course friendships are made from this. Lessons are just £10 per hour, and the first session will be starting on Saturday the 17th May at 1Oam TEL:01234 711918 EMAIL:c@mera.uk.com www.kevinvineyphotograp.choy.uk 11CherryOrchard(offFoxhill/Oxleys,O)lneyMK465PT 18 PhoneboxMagazine Please visit my website: www.ianrobertsmusic.org information about my music and my career.
